Clean Gear, Clean Spaces: Our Sanitation Protocols at Picture This Property

by | Apr 6, 2025 | Real Estate Photography

At Picture This Property, we know that great real estate photography is about more than capturing beautiful images—it’s about professionalism, respect, and safety. That’s why we go above and beyond to make sure our equipment, our process, and even our presence in your home meet the highest sanitation standards.

Whether we’re photographing a luxury estate or a cozy starter home, we treat every property with care—and that starts with keeping things clean.

Why Sanitation Matters in Real Estate Photography

Real estate photographers move from home to home, sometimes multiple properties in a single day. Without the right protocols in place, this opens the door for germs, dirt, and allergens to travel right along with us. We understand that each home we enter is someone’s personal space, and we’re committed to respecting it fully.

This is especially important in homes with newborns, toddlers, or anyone with compromised immunity. Little ones spend a lot of time on the floor, and the last thing any parent wants is dirt—or worse—being tracked in from public sidewalks, gas stations, or other people’s homes.

That’s why our approach to sanitation is serious, thoughtful, and built into every step of our workflow

Our Sanitation Philosophy

We don’t treat sanitation like an afterthought. It’s part of our brand promise. A clean environment helps keep your family safe—and clean gear keeps your listing photos looking crisp and professional.

It’s all about respect: for your space, for your health, and for the quality of our work.

How We Keep Our Gear Clean Between Jobs

After every shoot, we take time to disinfect and reset. Here’s how we keep our tools clean and client-ready:

  • Camera bodies and lenses are wiped down with alcohol-based cleaning solutions.
  • Tripods, gimbals, drone remotes, and light stands are also sanitized to remove surface contaminants.
  • Camera bags and gear cases are cleaned out weekly to reduce dust and debris buildup.
  • We carry hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes at all times, using them before and after entering a property.

We treat our gear like it’s walking into someone’s living room—because it is.

How We Protect Your Floors and Family

One of the biggest risks of cross-contamination comes from the bottoms of shoes. Think about where our feet go every day: gas stations, grocery store bathrooms, parking lots. Those same shoes stepping into your home? No thanks.

At Picture This Property, we take extra steps to keep your floors—and your little ones—safe:

  • We wear clean, indoor-only shoes or
  • Use disposable shoe covers when entering every home
  • We’ll also gladly remove shoes entirely if that’s your preference

Especially in homes with young children crawling around or infants sleeping just down the hall, we know that what we track in matters. That’s why we don’t take chances.

On-Site Etiquette That Keeps Things Clean

During the shoot, we’re mindful of more than just the camera angles. We:

  • Avoid touching furniture, doorknobs, or counters unless absolutely necessary
  • Designate a safe zone for gear setup so nothing touches delicate surfaces
  • Stay aware of any special instructions you give us, including “no shoes” policies or health concerns
  • Never eat or drink during a shoot—we keep our hands clean and our focus on the work

After the Shoot: Reset and Sanitize

Once we leave your home, the cleaning doesn’t stop:

  • All gear is wiped down again before going back in the bag
  • Phones, tablets, and any other tools we use on-site are disinfected too

Our goal? To start every new job like it’s the first of the day: clean, fresh, and totally sanitized.

Clients Notice the Difference

Realtors and homeowners alike have told us how much they appreciate the attention to cleanliness. In today’s world, this isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s an expectation. And it’s one we’re proud to meet.

Especially in family homes, where toddlers nap in the next room or babies crawl across the floor, our sanitation standards help provide peace of mind.

Custom Requests? We’re Happy to Accommodate

Every home is different, and we’re flexible. If you or your clients have specific safety or sanitation preferences—just let us know! We’ll gladly wear masks, minimize contact.

Final Thoughts

At Picture This Property, cleanliness is part of our brand. It’s how we show respect for your space, your health, and the people living inside the homes we photograph. Because behind every listing is a family—and that means everything to us.
